“When we are looking for customers we have the power, even as a small business, to say ‘who should I call?’ That gives you far more power than you think,” says Monica Ospina director of O Trade and Market Access.

“You have to be selective. You have to choose companies that you are serious about doing business with. Make sure that they are committed to doing the job that they do and they provide a quality service. You want customers that have a good relationship with the community because they’ll be appreciated by the people in the neighborhood and people will be happy to buy from them or have them as neighbors. By buying from them they are buying from you.”

“You want customers who are able to adapt to new technologies and with the idea of progress. With customers who are open to new ideas you can find ways to bring costs down or train, coordinate or share information.”

“These are the kinds of customers that businesses need in order to thrive and secure their position in the marketplace. So when we say ‘Hire your customers’ keep in mind that that you have the power to choose who you do business with.”
