Lean Management: Leadership Practices For Creating A Lean Work Culture
Lean Management: Leadership Practices for Creating a Lean Work Culture March 26, 2010 - Toronto, Ontario
Course Description
If your Lean implementation efforts have stalled or if results are not sustained, then get ready to take the next step in your Lean Journey. Learn how to build Lean thinking and engagement into every corner of your operation and organization.
Based on David Mann’s book Creating a Lean Culture, Lean Management is for companies who see value in making Lean a part of everyone’s daily work requirements. Through implementing a consistent set of Lean Leadership practices, Lean Management gradually transforms organizational attitudes and cultures.
This workshop will give you a Lean leadership strategy and method to engage employees, build cross-functional teamwork and bring everyone on-board as “one” team to reduce costs, eliminate waste and improve performance. Build a culture that is constantly searching for opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of systems, processes and methods.
Workshop Host: Bruce Craig
Bruce Craig is Director of Lean Management programs for the Campbellville Leadership Centre. His Lean journey began in the 80’s when he trained Quality Circles leaders how engage their people in problem solving efforts within their work units. His focus on leadership practices and employee involvement continued in his role as Organizational Effectiveness Advisor for Shell Canada at their Sarnia plants.
While at Shell he implemented a Quality Improvement Process (QIP) and used an employee engagement strategy to implement a re-structuring plan. His integration of leadership skills, employee involvement and Lean/continuous improvement efforts were key to his renewal of a socio-tech team based organization at the Chem Plant.
Since then he has developed a program to transform work cultures to through work unit involvement in continuous improvement. He has helped companies like Wrigley Canada, International Wallcoverings, Canadian General Tower, Johnson Matthey and Copperweld Canada to engage their employees in performance improvement.
Currently he is implementing a “Lean Management” program based on the work of David Mann of Steelcase. His understanding and experience with transforming work cultures, along with the tools and insights on change provided by Mann have combined to create the “Lean Management” workshop.
