Supply Chain Collaboration Program
Your supply chain partners are some of your company’s most important assets. A well designed partnership, based on mutual cooperation and collaboration, can not only improve short term business results, but also create the necessary conditions for continued long term growth and enhanced economic competitiveness. These relationships, however, take work.
The Supply Chain Collaboration Program provides the opportunity for your company to build a stronger and collaborative relationship with your key suppliers. Through workshops and follow up coaching, you will increase your productivity and competitiveness with your supply chain partners.
The Program
Best Productivity Principles and Collaborative Simulation
This two day sessions shows you how to:
- Understand the paradigm shift. You should be working on customer pull, not sales push. Rather than behaving as individual companies, identify key customers and assemble a supply team to satisfy the pull.
- Create a value map of the whole supply chain that identifies bottlenecks, redundancies and wasted space, time and inventory.
- Identify key components of the supply chain. Find out how the supply chain works so you can address potential problems and avoid padding your production schedule.
- Participate in a supply chain simulation to see firsthand the benefits of collaboration.
Strategic Collaboration Best Practices Workshop
This two day session shows you how to:
- Develop relationships with your suppliers and avoid playing them off each other. Find out how to develop just a few key suppliers.
- Create strategic alliances to benefit the whole supply chain. Are suppliers receptive to change focussed on delivering a product to the end customer? Can they change their delivery model to provide you with fewer components on a shorter lead time? The supply chain should function as a unit.
- Anticipate roadblocks. Learn the potential obstacles to change and how you can deal with them.
Follow-up Coaching
After the sessions, follow up with Productivity Alberta’s expert coaches; they’ll help you implement your newly-minted best practices for productivity. Four hours of follow-up coaching are included in your registration.

Testimonials and Resources
Metal Fabricators and Welding Ltd., a company who participated in the Supply Chain Strategic Alliance pilot program in 2009 along with their supply chain partners Praxair and Wilkinson Steel & Metals.
The concept of learning together with our suppliers was excellent. Through the simulation, workshop and coaching, our company and supply chain partners discovered opportunities for increased productivity and decreased costs. If we had known what the value of the program would have been to our company, we gladly would have paid $5,000 for it.
